Passports are the foremost common, and also the foremost reliable kind of self identification not just within the country but all across the earth. 

When applying for a passport, you can choose to do it in either one of the two ways- the first is to use through the normal procedure which can take a short time to arrive and therefore the opposite option is tatkal.


What is meant by annexure 'B' ?


Annexure B Affidavit is an identity certificate  which should be submitted by an State government employee, central government employee and employee of statutory Bodies or public Sector undertakings while applying for a tatkal passport.

This Verification Certificate may be got signed by any of the following: 

1} An Under Secretary/Deputy Secretary/Director/Joint Secretary/Add. 
Secretary/Special Secretary/Secretary/Cabinet Secretary to Government of India.

2} A Director/Joint Secretary/Additional Secretary/Special Secretary/Chief Secretary 
to a State Govt. 

3} A Sub-Divisional Magistrate/First class Judicial Magistrate/Additional DM/District 
Magistrate of the district of residence of applicant. 

4} A District Superintendent of Police, DIG/IG/DGP of the district of residence of 
applicant.
 
5} A Major and above in the Army, Lt. Commander and above in the Navy and Sq. 
Leader and above in the Air Force. 

6} The General Manager and above of a Public Sector Undertaking and the 
Reserve Bank of India.

7} All members of any All India Service or Central Service who are equivalent to or 
above the rank of an Under Secretary to the Government, i.e. drawing their pay 
in the level 11 and above of the pay matrix recommended by the 7th Central Pay 
Commission.

8} Resident Commissioners/Additional Resident Commissioners of all the State 
Governments based in Delhi.
 
9} Concerned Tehsildars or concerned SHOs for an applicant staying in the area 
under his/her jurisdiction.

Annexure B for passport


Is annexure 'B' mandatory for tatkal passport ?


No, annexure B is not mandatory or compulsory for tatkal passport. You can provide any 3 documents in the given list of 16 documents for verification.

To obtain a passport on out of turn basis submit any three of the documents listed below-

  1. Aadhaar Card/e-Aadhar containing the 12 digit Aadhaar number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India(UIDAI)
  2. Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC)
  3. Service Photo Identity Card issued by State/Central Government, Public Sector Undertakings, local bodies or Public Limited Companies
  4. Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe or Other backward class Certificate
  5. Arms License issued under the Arms Act, 1959(54 of 1959)
  6. Pension Document such as ex-servicemen's Pension book or Pension payment order issued to retired government employees, ex-servicemen's Widow or Dependent Certificates, Old Age Pension Order
  7. Last Passport issued (in case of re-issue only)
  8. Permanent Account Number(PAN)
  9. Bank Passbook or Kisan Passbook or Post Office Passbook
  10. Student Photo Identity Cards issued by Recognized Educational Institutions
  11. Driving Licenses (valid and within the jurisdiction of State of submission of applicant)
  12. Birth Certificates issued under the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969 (18 of 1969)
  13. Rations Cards

The details to be filled in Annexure B include-

  • Name of the applicant
  • Name of the employee
  • Office address where the employee works
  • Date since when the employee is employed in that office
  • Employee’s Identity Card number
  • Reference No. of the application
  • Date on which the document was issued
  • Name and designation of the issuing officer
  • Address and contact number of the issuing department
